Men’s Fashion Trends Fall Winter 2013

by Fashion Dude on September 26, 2013

Summer seems to have finally deserted us, and as the nights start to draw in it is inevitable that our thoughts will turn to our autumn style.  But what exactly are the everyday wearable classics that will see us through until spring?  As usual, the fashion writers are extolling the virtues of putting together a capsule wardrobe and by looking at the trends and selecting a few key pieces, this should be achievable for all of us.

Fifty Shades of Gray
Gray is the go-to color this season!  The high street is bursting at the seams with clothing from formal suits to baseball jackets in every shade of gray imaginable.  Buying a range of key items in this wearable color is an easy way to tap into current trends.

Dress Down
Nautical stripes retain their place in the fashion hall of fame this autumn and are to be seen in the new season colors of gray and blue.  Cozy knits and narrow trousers from upmarket casual clothing brands like Crew Clothing are essential pieces for successful layering during the forthcoming cold snap.

Accent colors
Break up the gray with a dash of fuchsia or a deep wine red.  A bright waistcoat under a stone colored suit can really lift your look, or try pairing a ruby shirt with an otherwise neutral outfit.  Velvet is a key fabric this season and injects an element of Victorian chic to any outfit.

This season we’ll also bid farewell to navy and welcome brighter tints of blue.  The whole palette has been seen on the catwalks, from baby blue to bright electric shades and deep royal hues.  Also think about investing in a blue overcoat to lift your spirits on dull winter mornings.

Bomber Style
Many designers have showcased a new twist on the bomber jacket for Autumn/Winter 2013.  Slim line versions in all fabrics including leather, suede and velvet add a quintessentially European twist to this classic style.

Super Man
Capes are massive this season.  Of course you will need to work on your heroic stance in order to pull this look off.

Winter warmth
It’s always great when fashion is practical as well as stylish.  With weather forecasters predicting one of the coldest winters in years, the return of the roll neck to modern outfit is to be warmly welcomed.  Worn under a suit or layered under other woollies, this humble classic is a vital addition to your wardrobe this season.

Explorer Chic
An easy way to tap into this trend is investing in a pair of sturdy hiking boots.  Practical, stylish and available in a range of fabrics, these boots should see you through until spring and look great teamed with either a suit or more casual outfit.

On trend tartan
Tartans and other checks and squared fabric are going to be massive this year.  If you’re confident enough, strut your stuff in a tartan suit or overcoat.  For a more subtle approach, there are a plethora of sweaters and shirts with a more delicate take on this style available on the high street.
