Newcastle is set to host it’s very first Fashion week, not to be outdone by London, New York, Paris or Milan, Newcastle will be celebrating 8 days of fashion frenzy with fashion shows, events, promotions and competitions spanning venues across the city from 14 – 21 May 2011.
Some of what you can expect:
Newcastle Fashion Week will support Northumbria University’s BA (Hons) Fashion Show on the 19 May at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead
Lectures with prominent speakers from the fashion industry will be held at Northumbria University during the course of the week. Wayne Hemingway, creator of the Red or Dead label and most recently the Vintage Festival is on board and will deliver a lecture on Monday 16 May 2011.
A whole host of retail fashion promotions, offers and events will be staged at shops, shopping centres and boutiques across the city including catwalk fashion shows, exhibitions, discount and V.I.P evenings. People will be able to get involved in Newcastle Fashion Week with in-store fashion make-overs, personal
shopper sessions and demonstrations by make-up artists and fashion and styling advice from the experts.
As well as enlisting the support and involvement of the big fashion retailers, Newcastle Fashion Week will bring into focus all that Newcastle has to offer on an independent fashion stage with events and store crawls of some of Newcastle’s finest boutiques, vintage shops and small, home-grown designer labels.
