The force is strong with these lego products now they have adapted to tell the time while looking mighty cool. If you hadn’t guessed already I can tell you that the theme of the new lego wrist watches is Star Wars Lego watches, but while we’re broaching the retro factor I couldn’t help but include the Buzz Lighyear and Classic Brick models as well.
Darth Vader Adult Watch
If you think going to the dark side constitutes wearing a wristwatch then this bad boy is for you. The red and black links that make up the wristband can be built in any pattern you like while the red and black face has an image of the lord Vader himself along with some spooky words that say, “YOU DON’T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARK SIDE.” Ok Lord Vader, that may be the case but can you tell me what time it is?
Classic Brick Adult Watch
This one is right up my multi-coloured brick street. It’s proper retro-the red, yellow, blue and green links that form the band strap themselves into a white face with luminous hands and Arabic numerals that are easy to read and make for old school time telling. Like the other lego watches it is water resistant to a depth of 50 metres so if you feel like building a lego city under the sea you’re in business. The Japanese quartz movement means reliability and it’s all wrapped up nicely in a yellow presentation box.
Buzz Lightyear Watch
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Or as Rebecca Black prefers to say-Fun! Fun! Fun! Buzz boasts the same features as all the other watches but it’s only a test of fun at this point isn’t it? Guaranteed to release the inner child in you (If you’re not a child already that is), the bright and playful red, green, white and purple colours that make up the wristband with the Buzz logo on the dial will be perfect for kids but I have a sneaky suspicion it will be snapped up by many adults who are fans of the movies and indeed of all things kitsch.
So…these lego watches are a must have for all you retro fashionistas out there but just remember kids- once that watch leaves your wrist and finds the floor it will become an enemy to your foot, waiting earnestly for you to step on it so you will go to the dark side. Perhaps that’s what the Star Wars theme is all about.
