As we move onto the third installment from the now legendary Chad Muska, we are left wondering can he possibly create another shoe to live up to that of the Skytop 1 and 2. The Skytop 3 is certainly the most technologically advanced model in the group combining skate with fashion not as dramatic as the other two models. Now for the tekky bit:
The shoe features a molded TPR cage highlighted by lines that hearken back to the original SKYTOP. This version offers a modern rubber cup sole with full-length, blown EVA throughout the forefoot and heel. The skate sensitive areas are reinforced with rubber sidewalls. Inside the shoe a fully enclosed mesh booty provides breathable support and increased comfort. Lift the footbed to discover the removable EVA pod with an encapsulated air pocket that provides extra heel impact protection. The tread pattern was carefully designed to give greater flexibility and increased board feel. And, finally, in keeping with Muska tradition, there’s a stash spot behind the tongue.
We can’t argue that it is an impressive shoe, combining both skate-ability and fashion is what Supra do and they do it well, but have they left out to much of the fashion when creating this model?? Supra shoes are where they are today because of their originality and unique designs, this however looks a bit main stream and not too far of a pair of sports trainers you would get in your local sports shop. Chad himself simply described the SKYTOP III, “It’s part tech runner and part basketball shoe, mixed in with the lines of the original SKYTOP.” Initial offerings at launch are available in white (Gunny TUF), grey (suede), red (suede), and black (nubuck). Are we happy with these, are deserving of the legendary “Supra Status”, let us know what you think. If they are not for you then check out the new Supra Black and Yellow special edition and check out our up-close look a the Supra skytop 3 gray suede.
